Paul Kenton - East 42nd Street
Bold, structural, directional, architectural
lines were the starting point for this image
and what initially captured my eye. Painted
on an overcast day, created from sketches on
location, the Chrysler is one of my favourite
buildings in New York. Use of soft, subtle light
colouring the sky is reflected in the minimal
mono colour palette, tempting the downpour
onto the buildings. Abstract elements appear
within flickers of paint. Often I just go for
what feels right, coaxing life into manmade
structures. A cool and calm city portrait.
